Falco Sauna overview

Now in its 3rd generation the Falco Sauna is our most popular model, and is the backbone of our sauna range.

With its Corten overhang roof, a more private window and softer cabin styling, it is well suited to countryside or woodland properties.

Explore the details

The sauna exterior

We use Thermowood for all our external cladding, brushed to enhance the texture in the grain. A black natural oil is applied giving the sauna a beautiful finish which allows it to sit modestly into the landscape. Each of our saunas feature a welcoming entrance deck and finishing touches of coat & robe hooks.

The sauna interior

Internally the sauna features breathable and natural sheep's wool insulation with a slow grown larch vapour cavity, allowing for moisture management and ventilation. Thermo aspen panelling creates a beautiful wooden environment and helps regulate humidity, whilst being comfortable to the touch.

Staying seated & heated

Thermo aspen bench boards with integrated angled backrest for comfort. Finished with Stelon sauna oil, a wood barrier which is also naturally antibacterial. The Tyto Sauna seats up to 3 people comfortably.

Light levels, at the right levels

Brighter mornings and toned-down eves. Set your mood with adjustable Internal 3000k LED lighting, lined below benches and above backrest. Illuminating the outside decking are Astro LED wall-mounted black downlights.

Flooring built for busy

Choose between light or dark grey high traffic porcelain tiles with concrete effect.

Window into nature

Large high temperature sealed double glazed windows bring an intimate level of connection to the surrounding landscape, as you bathe in the sauna experience.

The Tyto Sauna model features a contemporary exterior with envelope details which include:

Striking edge-to-edge panoramic window with optional privacy glass
Black powder-coated aluminum break line encircles the sauna exterior
Wire-brushed black thermowood with a textured finish that accentuates the natural grain
Low-profile flat roof minimising the sauna’s overall height

Heated discussion

Traditional wood-fired

If the sauna is going to be positioned far from any utilities in an off-grid location, a wood-fired heater is the best choice. Wood heaters do take a little longer to heat up, but once up and running, they create a lovely constant heat and add to the atmosphere with their flickering flames.

Running costs: The cost of running a wood-fired heater will depend on what you pay for your seasoned logs. A sauna session would require a small basket of logs and kindling. By bringing all the logs into the sauna they will heat up prior to being put in the stove, increasing heat output and efficiency.

Electric

Electric heaters are easy to regulate and can even be controlled from your phone, meaning the sauna can be up to temperature when you get home. For electric heaters, power can be placed in a trench; a local electrician can check your supply and arrange this work.

Electric (6kW) by HUUM

Running costs: The cost to run an electric heater depends on their size, e.g. a 9kW electric heater will use 9kW of power per hour, which currently costs £0.32 per kW, (an hour of heat = £2.88). Once room is up to temperature, a thermostat will turn the heater on & off as required, so that hourly rate could be halved.

Optional extras for the Tyto

Rear deck

Extend the existing deck around the sauna to accommodate a bench, outdoor shower or cold plunge. We can also design and build larger custom decking to fit your sauna site.

Outdoor bench

Made from matching black timber, an outdoor bench on the rear deck can be added for changing, or a moment of pause. 600mm wide on Tyto, and 900mm on Falco & Merula models.

Outdoor shower

Outdoor shower can be fitted above a rear deck to provide cool down and refresh between sessions. Features large monsoon shower head and a side mounted tap for filling the sauna bucket.

Sauna heater Wi-Fi control

Don't wait. The sauna heater can be controlled via an app on your smartphone, offering remote control to set your desired heat level in advance of your sauna experience.

Privacy glass

One way mirrored privacy glass providing undisturbed views and clear vision. Serves a dual purpose of both privacy, and adding a stunning reflective feature to the sauna location.

Outdoor log store or shelving

Great for a wood-fired sauna, an outdoor shelving unit can be can be added to the rear decking area providing extra storage for accessories or as a dedicated log store.
